Overview

We are seeking candidates for an exciting opportunity to join a highly skilled team in Pittsburgh, PA or Portland, OR. The DBA / Database Developer is responsible for the design, configuration, monitoring, and administration of databases and supporting systems. The candidate must be experienced working with MySQL in a LAMP environment. The ideal candidate can work independently, while performing as part of a larger development team.

Responsibilities

  • Schema modeling and design.
  • Database configuration, implementation, and monitoring.
  • Optimizing and sanitizing queries.
  • Query log analysis.
  • Installation, setup, and management of our MariaDB Galera Clusters.
  • Replication monitoring.
  • Full administration of MySQL servers.
  • Accurately track issues and resolutions.
  • Write scripts/utilities as needed.
  • Write code and shell scripts to perform daily/weekly/monthly tasks
  • Develop ETLs.
  • Analyze business requirements.
  • Respond to emergencies as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years using, configuring, and monitoring MySQL and/or variants.
  • Advanced MySQL/MariaDB knowledge.
  • Experience working in a LAMP environment.
  • Intermediate PHP skills.
  • Linux background pertaining to performance, security, backups and databases.
  • Database design and ERD generation.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices including engineering standards and change control processes.
  • Holistic problem solving.
  • Ability to take part in on-call rotation and occasionally perform off-hour maintenance.
  • Fluency in Percona Toolkit
  • Experience in Master/slave, Master/Master replication.
  • Experience with Galera Clustering a plus
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience.
