Our client is seeking an experienced Database Manager to ensure streamlined database environments and database applications are in alignment with the business objectives of the organization. The ideal candidate will have five or more years of experience with Oracle and SQL Server database technologies. This is a full-time position located south of the City of Pittsburgh. 


  • Lead varying levels of database developers embedded within Agile application teams through the design of database structures to support business requirements, application development, testing and production support.
  • Develop strategic database application roadmap focusing on reducing technical debt within legacy applications and streamlining data processing functionality. 
  • Construct an implementation plan with associate project schedules.
  • Integral member of the data warehouse leadership team developing an improved data warehouse with a defined data goverance process to improve business analytics and reporting capabilities.
  • Lead Database Application Team by fostering innovation, planning projects, and organizing and negotiating the allocation of resources.
  • Manage the application deployment, monitoring, maintenance, and support of all database application systems, including tuning and supporting database and 3rd party software upgrades, and nightly batch processing.


  • Seven (7) or more years related work experience required
  • Five (5) years of management experience is preferred

Other Skills/Abilities

  • Strong programming lifecycle knowledge for database centric application development
  • Strong transactional programming knowledge of database application development
  • Application support and development for data warehouse environment including ETL processes
  • Extensive application support experience
  • Strong technical knowledge of Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server database technologies
  • Strong technical knowledge of development principals for Exadata engineered systems, Oracle Data Integrator and Oracle PL/SQL
  • Proven experience in database infrastructure planning and development
  • Excellent understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives
  • Strong understanding of human resource management principles, practices, and procedures
  • Strong understanding of project management principles
  • Ability to conduct and direct research into IT issues and products as required
  • Ability to perform general mathematical calculations for the purpose of creating business cases, budgets, and so on
  • Proven analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related discipline preferred


  • Certification in Oracle database administration and development is preferred
