  • Overview

    Our Client, a leader in academia, is hiring an Assistant Professor of Information Technology. This full time position located in Pittsburgh, PA is a tenure-track position. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of three years of teaching experience and/or professional experience in software development and programming. Additionally, the candidate will have expertise in core areas of the Information Technology industry.


    • Instruct courses in databases, networking and security, programming, and business analytics
    • Prepare curriculum for general courses and programs
    • Meet with students regarding their academic goals and how to meet them
    • Conduct research into specific areas of study and implement new information into curriculum when possible
    • Respond to inquiries from students, College employees and customers while maintaining standards of confidentiality and privacy, in a timely manner. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with the College, FERPA, student records, and any other protected documentation.
    • Teach approved courses using applied learning methods in accordance with the course objectives, the established syllabus, the schedule of classes, and other College and program requirements. 
    • Demonstrate ability and expertise in one's discipline and enthusiasm and creativity in teaching to create an environment that motivates students to learn. 
    • Work with other faculty and the administration in carrying out all instructional procedures and willingness to follow established procedures.
    • Maintain user proficiency for software programs, systems, and databases used by the College.
    • Maintain accurate records of grades, attendance, etc. and academic performance of students. 
    • Maintain accurate records and possess strong organizational skills. 


    • Three of more years of teaching or professional expertise in core Information Technology areas including:
      • Databases
      • Business Analytics
      • Networking, and/or Security
    • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office programs required. 
    • Excellent computer and related technology skills required. 
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently and complete projects with minimal direction and oversight. 
    • Willingness to work an irregular schedule as assigned. 
    • Attend organizational, orientation, or training meetings held preceding or during each academic term and departmental meetings whenever feasible.
    • Candidate must successfully pass a background check, prior to and after employment. 
    • Valid driver's license or dependable transportation required.


    • Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology required.
