  • Overview

    In this role, you will lead a team of Systems Administrators and Infrastructure Specialists to work with engineers and implementation teams to build, test, deliver, and manage the 24x7 transaction processing technologies. Daily focus for the System Operations team is to support all Production and Non-Production Linux systems hosting internally-developed applications. The right candidate will apply strong communication skills, team building, conflict management, problem-solving skills, and knowledge of best practices to provide technical mentorship to team members and to establish themselves as a trusted advisor to stakeholders. This role requires the candidate to ensure the team is troubleshooting and maintaining systems environment, auditing, optimizing, systems infrastructure, and overseeing physical aspects of IT including, but not limited to: Phones, UPS, Cooling, Power management, cabling.  Assist in engineering projects, responding to systems trouble tickets.

     

    Responsibilities

    Supervises other managers and supervisors, in addition to front-line staff, across multiple disciplines.

     

    Possess an in-depth knowledge of networking protocols such as TCP/IP, SNMP/RMON and RDP; basic networking terminology and architecture; knowledge of network applications such as DHCP and DNS; in-depth knowledge of LAN/WAN communications, SAN/NAS experience, and wireless access points; strong knowledge of factors affecting server optimization and performance; strong knowledge of network capacity analysis and trending; knowledge of application designs including: 2-tier, 3-tier and web browser based designs; knowledge of relational databases and SQL; and, familiarity with general purpose test equipment including network sniffers and traffic generators.  Maintain an enterprise level phone switch.  Provide strong collaboration and mentoring abilities.  Handle employee reviews and discipline.  Make policies as required for review by senior leadership.  Ability to plan projects and delegate tasks appropriately.

    Qualifications

    1. Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in a relevant field. , or equivalent experience
    2. 5-7 years of advanced Linux operating system experience desired
    3. Demonstrated 3-4 year history of leading and mentoring team members
    4. Expertise in maintaining mission critical highly available Linux server environments
    5. Advanced ability to diagnose server hardware, operating system, and application layer problems quickly and effectively
    6. Experience responding and participating in cross-functional incident response teams
    7. Experience working with scripting languages and automation technologies: i.e. Shell, Ansible, Python, Perl, SQL, PHP
    8. Excellent written and verbal communications skills within team and cross functional exposure with commitment to production of high quality documentation
    9. Experience and in-depth knowledge of partnering with business units and operational processing
    10. Experience with budgetary planning and forecasting.
    11. Excellent collaboration, negotiating, and compromising skills
    12. Demonstrated commitment to providing excellent customer service
    13. Demonstrated effectiveness with managing, driving, and executing multiple issues simultaneously
